WOMEN AND GIRLS MENTORSHIP

BASTIMENTOS, PANAMA

Bastimentos was once a fishing village but with the influx of tourism from the nearby Bocas del Toro, local fish stocks declined. The remote community is now considered impoverished with one time fisherfolk now surviving mainly off subsistence living without electricity, running water, clean drinking water, and bathroom facilities. The village lacks sufficient public education, limited resources and opportunities for income prosperity. We teamed up with our friends at  Changing Tides Foundation and Give and Surf to launch the Women's Outreach and Mentorship Program that encourages girls to nurture their voices and strength their unique abilities in a safe space, in the community center and in the sea.
